The Ring is one of the most trusted names in the video doorbell world. It responds to Alexa voice commands and interacts with other smart devices using IFTTT applets.
Still, it doesn’t have dual-band Wi-Fi or supports video pre-buffering to capture what happened before the motion sensor was triggered like some of Ring’s costlier models.
Ring Video Doorbell
The blacktop section of the device contains a camera and a microphone, while the silver bottom section holds the doorbell button, which is surrounded by an LED ring that flashes blue when the button is pressed. The bottom edge holds a speaker used for two-way communication and to sound the doorbell chime. There’s a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi radio under the hood. Whereas other Ring doorbells have removable battery packs, this one uses a non-removable rechargeable battery rated to last 6 to 12 months between charges.
To charge it, you have to physically remove the entire device, bring it inside, and power it up using the included USB cable. However, you can also hard-wire it to your existing doorbell wire for continuous charging. The USB charging port, two wiring terminals, and a Setup button are all located on the back panel. The doorbell’s camera captures video at 1080p, has a 155-degree field of view, and uses infrared LEDs to capture black-and-white night video. It will begin recording video and send push alerts when the button is pressed or senses motion. If you have an Amazon Alexa device, it will tell you when the doorbell button has been pressed.

It supports IFTTT applets and can be linked to other Ring devices, and it delivers sharp day and night video. The Peephole Cam consists of an interior component and an exterior component. At 3.8 by 1.8 by 0.7 inches, the exterior component is just a little smaller than the Ring Video Doorbell Pro but uses the same basic design and black-and-silver color scheme. It has an IPX5 weather rating and contains a 1080p camera with High Dynamic Range technology, three infrared LEDs for night vision, a motion sensor, a doorbell button surrounded by an LED ring, and a microphone and speaker for two-way audio. It also has a lens that lets you use it as a traditional peephole. The interior component has a white cover and measures 4.4 by 2.2 by 1.1 inches. It holds a removable lithium-ion battery pack that pops out and can be recharged using the supplied USB cable, an 802.11n Wi-Fi radio that connects it to your home network, an impact knock detection sensor, and a peephole tube with a sliding privacy cover.
